What do you mean, ethereal?

Well, if you want to go by a litereal meaning of the word, these are the definitions I am meaning to represent: Highly refined; delicate, Of the celestial spheres; heavenly, Not of this world; spiritual.

I am very attracted to art of this nature, particularly when it is representitive of the equine, or horse spirit. But, in my opinion, the image does not need to be one that looks "ghostlike" to be ethereal. To me, the representation of the spirit of the horse, and by spirit, I mean energy, is that which I truly define as ethereal.

So, a painting could be highly realistic in nature, and look like a photograph, but if it captures that vivid, majestic, proud spirit of the animal... that presence that can move you to tears...

THAT is ethereal.
